Work Experience
Kubernetes Specialist
La Sentinelle is the parent company of several media companies, including L'Express, the most read newspaper in Mauritius, as well as the largest local printing company.
- Set up and managed all Kubernetes-based infrastructure as the sole K8s engineer, including KubeVirt-based virtualisation
- Managed both bare-metal servers and cloud services across GCP and AWS
- Introduced best practices and CI/CD pipelines with regard to containerisation
- Development with PHP & Laravel, and Rust
- Rewrote monolith applications, cutting p95 response from 0.4s to 1.7ms and lifting throughput from 365 to 48k requests/second
- Technologies used revolved around the SUSE suite: SLE, rke2, K3s, Longhorn, Harvester
Software Development Intern
SWAN is one of the largest insurance companies in Mauritius.
- Development with C#, JS, Python, and Rust using .NET, ReactJS, and Flask
- Full-stack development of utility applications for HR and managers
- Introduced Git, containerisation and Kubernetes to infra and dev teams
Systems Administrator
Parksmart is a startup for more intelligent parking management systems.
- Containerised and deployed applications onto Kubernetes bare metal
- Migrated old Docker Swarm stack to Kubernetes
- Implemented best practices for deployments and secret management
- Setup and managed Kubernetes clusters to serve on the edge in low-connectivity, resource-constrained areas
Passion Projects
Personal K3s Cluster Operator
- Running a personal K3s cluster as a platform to learn and experiment with cloud native technologies
- Used to host personal websites and services for the local tech community
Free Kubernetes Cloud Platform
- Developed a Kubernetes cloud service platform in Rust using kube-rs, and virtual clusters for secure multitenancy
- Share my infra with the local community for running workshops, and demos. Facilitates people in building and running services for the community at no cost
Cloud Native Community Group of Mauritius
- Organise monthly tech meetups around the cloud native ecosystem, with the partnership of local companies
- Organised conferences spanning across multiple days as well as technical workshops to teach about cloud native technologies
- Fostered a vibrant community of 60+ members with regular meetups and collaborations with other local user groups
Conference Speaker and Community Figure
- First time speaker at KubeCon 2026, talking about a project I built for more accessible cloud-native-first infrastructure
- Speaker at Rejekts 2025, addressing Mauritius's unique infrastructure and connectivity challenges
- Speaker at the Mauritian Developers Conference on Kubernetes and cloud native topics, 2024 to 2026, including hosting a Kubernetes workshop
- Speaker at the Frontend community meetups for three years, introducing Kubernetes and DevOps to the JavaScript crowd
- Speaker at meetups hosted by the Mauritian Software Craftsmanship Community, as well as other user groups, presenting on privacy, digital sovereignty, and AI
